proper way to change or add coolant??

is there a proper procedure for adding or changing out coolant? i read somewhere to make sure there is no air in the system using some valves? Can any one clear this up please.

Those instructions will do you just right. I believe they are the ones I used. As far as flushing the heater core, just let it fall where it may.

However, I used a pistol grip nozzle on the end of the hose, just don't squeeze too hard and let too much pressure go in or you just may get a face full of whatever is clogging your heater core.

While your car is idling, just take a flathead and rag and open the bleeder valves and let any air out that may be in your system. If there is, you will hear it hiss as it escapes. When coolant starts to come out of the valves, close her up and you're good to go.
