proper cam break-in procedure?

i have heard so many variations of what you supposed to do that i am really not sure at all how do break in a cam. some say to run the car at 3000 RPM for 30 min. but i would think overheating would be an issue there! other ppl say that you should run the car for 500 miles. after doing one of those i know you have to change the oil again and what not but i am just a little misinformed on what you do before the first oil change. thanks

If you happen to add springs at the same time, they do need to be heat cycled, so don't forget about them.

I dyno'ed the day after my hotcam was installed....no problems yet.

I've put about 200 miles on my car since the install, and I'm changing the oil soon.
