Programming a 95 Z28

I got an e-mail tune from madz28 and I have been trying to upload it with no success. I have an OBD1 USB cable from www.moates.net that I used on my 88 and it worked fine. I followed the instructions on shoebox's website in order to adapt it for the OBD2 connector on my 95. Whenever I go into C.A.T.S to read or program the PCM it says COM3 is available until I plug in my OBD1 USB cable which then makes it unavailable even though it is set up for COM3. Anyone else gotten this to work or should I just buy an OBD2 cable??

The instructions on my site are to adapt a scanner and are not intended for programming. I would buy a proper cable. I would not trust an adaption like that for doing programming, anyway. You don't want any chance of anything coming loose during programming.
