programing keyless remote?

i only have one remote for my car and bought a spare off of ebay, the model # on mine is fccid:ab01502t and the spare i bought has the same model# only the GM# and the canada# are different and i was told it would work, anyway...i went to program it following the directions in the owners manual and it was not working, i pulled the radio fuse, turn key on/off 3 times within 5 seconds, then it says vehicle will respond by locking doors and unlocking drivers door and releasing the hatch, and it was not responding, so i could go no further that that point, anyone ever have this problem? or am i doing something wrong..thanks

Double check that you are pulling the correct fuse. It can be a bit tricky trying to read the fuse layout.

You never got to the point of programming the remote so it doesnt matter what remote you have at this point...

Just make sure you are cycling the key correctly and fast enough. I just did this about a week ago and had no issues doing it for the first time.

Seems like I once heard someone say they had to cycle the key more quickly to make it work for them.
