and about obd1 scanning.

i plug in my obd2 scanner, but it wont read th obd1 computer. says error on my scanner screen.

i think its cus its 2 different operations? OBD2 and OBD1?

should i reinstall my obd2 and try it that way? see what codes pop up?

Dude bad opti. I had the same problem when I switched to the hot cam on my Impala. It drove for a day and die, start up and die. I thought it was my MSD. I unhook it and it ran for two days. I then took it out on soom 6700 rpm shifts and that done it. Got home and turn the car off it wouldnt even start. Order an opti from Dal and fired it up when I got it ;no problems. Oh Dal has all Gm parts for Lt1 car for well under market price give him a call and tell him Travis sent you 1877 448 5451.
But before I done all that I had a new opti on and it would even start put the old one on and she fired right up. I even torn down to check the timing chain. What a mess I dont wont to remember now. Damn the Opti Spark. Some on the Impalassforum have changed their Lt1 over to the ls1 coilpacks. That is the best option but expensive. Forget about Dynaspark as well. WQay toooo high.

Pull them again, and you will see that you are still running rich....!

Answer/do the following:

1.) Any codes? Which? You must get a data logger!!

2.) Get a spray bottle and spray your header primaries one by one, does one of the other seem cooler than the rest? Could be your opti.... if this is true. Mine was.

3.) Are your wires good, are they arcing (look at them at night).

Anything else, you would have to diagnose with a data logger.

Good Luck

well yeah i wanted to pull the plugs and see for myself again.

the wires are not arching that i checked, i will need to re check to see if they are connected all the way and correct order.

i was told to check my fuel pressure? should be at 40-45 i think i was told

if i order the opti today, and i check the fuel pressure on my car and find out its the fuel pump, or wires, can i return the opti if its not opened?

i was thinking on buying a new opti, msd blaster coil and well if needed, new plugs

anything else?

I guess if you want to take a stab at it, I would say opti or opti wire harness (check for corrosion), but for your monies' worth I would get a data logger. It is worth every penny.

I do not know what model year your car is, but on mine I use a laptop, and DATAMASTER (software) to download sensor information that is available for playback. This information is super valuable, and gives a first hand information of where to start looking.

The software is availabe "free" at TTS (do a search for the website), you will need a ALDL cable (avail. at AKMcables.com), (Obd1 or Obd2, do not know what your car is) and ofcourse a laptop or desktop if you can move around in it.

Do a search, and you will find extensive information.

Use ALDL, DATAMASTER, as your search terms.

Datamaster Trial version is free (30 free scans)
ALDL cable is about $90 from AKMcables.com

Hmmmm. I believe you will need an OBD2 cable for your car, if anything I would ask MADWOLF. He is a programming expert.
