Problem with spring seats and shims

I just got my heads back from the machinist last week. I cleaned them up and got ready to put them together when I realized something. The cutter he used for the valve guides must be different that the comp cams cutter. In other words, my shims do not fit over the guides. I measured my guides and they are .650. I have 1.437" O.D. springs. I can't find any shims that have a .650 I.D and a 1.437 O.D. I plan on talking to my machinist about this, but has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Problem with spring seats and shims

No, did you give the machinist a example of a shim that's you are using, or just the diameter of it? Most of the time it's not needed if they have done this type of work.

I guess what you are saying is the guide is bigger than the diameter of the shim. How much are we talking about?

I'm sure that they can fix it for you to get the correct size that you need, just explain the problem. That's why I pay just a little more and let my head person assemble them for me.
