Problem With LT1

Hey, i have 95,000 on my 97 camaro z28. I am having a slight problem and i think it has to do with a tune up. I have original plugs and wires and everything. So, i start it up the other day and its idling a little rough so i thought a little bit of it. So i start driving forward and my car isn't really going anywhere past 25 mph even when im flooring it. Then i shut the car off and start it back up and everythings ok. Then this would happen every once in a while. Then yesterday it was idling for about 5 minutes and i got into the car and noticed it was idling really rough and wanting to stall and then the rpm's would go up to keep it from stalling. I put it in reverse and it just about stalled on me. I shut it off then started it back up and it was still idling rough and running rough but it was ok to get me home. So it is now garaged and could it be tune up problems? Or what?

You could have a spark plug wire arcing to the block causing a miss. You can see this by looking under the hood in the dark with the engine running. If you have the original plugs and wires that's the first place to start by replacing them.

K, i will check that out later tonight. Yea, most likely its the plugs and wires which i should just go ahead and get the opti replaced and everything else with the tune up.

The opti is pretty pricey to swap out; I'd wait and see what the plugs and wires do to cure your issues.

Even though this is a five year old thread, I'll answer the question. The opti is the distributor for the LT1. Optispark is the correct name, and it sits under the water pump. Great place for a distributor. LOL
