Problem with gauges, i need help from electronics expert.

I just installed white faced gauges in my CAMARO and they are ones off of Ebay. Here is the link http://www.mustangmods.com/data/1787/pb030064.jpg .
The gauges are pretty nice the only complaint i have with them is that they came with an on/off switch and you have to use it. I wired the inverter into the brown wire on the headlight switch, but if you turn the light switch on the gauges won't come on until you hit the on/off switch for the gauges. I tried cutting the wires to the on/off switch and splicing them together and that didn't work so i just hooked it back up to where i have to have the head light switch on then hit the gauge on/off switch. I'm cool with that as the gauges turn off when you turn the headlight switch off. The only problem is when i hit my brakes hard sometimes the gauges will turn off and then when i hit them again they will come back on. I'm sure this has to do with my 98 + SS spoiler being wired up with a relay to keep the ABS light off. I think the split second loss of voltage is what turns the gauges off and then back on. My question is does anyone know how to wire this differently so this won't happen? Thanks Mike

I guess does anyone know of another wire that might be hot when the lights are on that wouldn't be tied into the 3rd brake light some how. That would probably solve my problem.

im looking at the wiring diagram of my 95 and it looks like in the switch the red wire with the white tracer is hot at all times... and that runs to the headlight relay and it also looks like the tail light fuse in your fuse box the orange wires that run to that fuse are hot at all times too.. well i would say if you wanted it to be like stock i would cut the switch out and wire it up straight to the yellow wire in the switch and ground it somewhere....

I think the power inverter will keep me from ever having them actually work just like original. I cut the switch out and spliced the two wires together so it would have a constant contact, but for some reason if you give power to the gauges they won't come. You have to cut apart the wires on the on off switch and just touch them together for a second then the lights will stay on. As soon as you turn the power off then back on you have to touch the wires together for a split second to turn them on. So i guess its a momentary switch. I have no problem turning the head light switch and then turning the gauge switch on thats not a problem. i would just like the switch power wired to the headlight switch so when i turn the lights off the gauges go off. That way i won't ever forget them. I guess i'll try the yellow wire this time. Thanks Mike

Thanks for your help Iroc, i went out and rewired it to the yellow wire on my headlight switch and now they work. The gauges only come on now during headlights instead of coming on with the park lights on, but thats ok i never use my park lights. I'm happy with the gauges now and can live with them. Thanks again Iroc.
