problem with brakes

i out new rear rotors and pads in my car yesterday. it was shaking when i applied the breaks. front rotors were changed last year.
the pedal pulsated before the new rotors, but now the car just shakes like it did before. the brake light on the dash is also on.
tried bleeding the brakes, but that didnt do anything. also, one of the rotors is getting hot. i took it for a test drive yesterday, and after i pulled back into the garage the rotor was smoking.

If you have a rotor getting hotter than another and it's NOT warped, it can only be one of 2 things. A bearing or the piston is stuck. There's no way it could be the bearing in the rear without you seeing a mess and hearing a whole bunch of racket. So that leaves the piston. Either rebuild it or get a reman.

As far as your shake is concerned, well I have yet to see an automatic that didn't warp the OEM rotors up front in short order. I have had several std tranny vehicles from different mfr's and not one warped the front rotors. But all of my auto's warped everyone. My feeling is that because you hold the brake on at a light for example, the rotor cools somewhat every where except where the pads are clamped on the rotor. Because of this uneven cooling, the rotors warp much easier than on a std tranny vehicle where more often than not, you don't hold the brake on when stopped. So check the front for warpage.

Not formiliar with Pontiacs but I assume you have ABS like the rest of us. The light will stay on after you have bled the brakes for a while because you didn't cycle the ABS motors out and back to home position while you were bleeding them. The light should eventually go out though.
