Problem Bigger Than First Thought

Heres The story:
My roommate and I were driving down the high way one night when all of a sudden I lost power in all gears. and had a few sparks fly from under the car, The car would not accelerate at all. So I pulled over and turned the car over. Looked under the car and the first inch or so before the CAT was glowing read. We gave it a few minutes - Started the car back up and got about another 2 miles or so before I got the same thing again, with the exceptions of sparks. This time it wouldnt start back up. I finally got around to cutting the CAT off and still got nothing. We assumed it was melted and wouldnt start. Well That didnt help any either.
About two weeks prior I had put bad gas into the car - and had a ton of trouble figuring that problem out too. We changed the injectors for some my buddy had and the problem went away and drove fine. I dont know if that had anything to do with it not starting now but I figured Id mention it.
Any Ideas what to do/try now?

Pull the easiest spark plug you can get to and report on it's condition/color. That may confirm if the engine was running too lean to cause the glowing.

Its pretty cold out - and Im in dorms so there isnt a place to pull the car to stay warm so I'll check out the plugs tommorow. The injectors we put in the car are temporary and were pulled out of a Impala - Would that cause the car to run lean? Before the bad gas incident the car ran fine so I dont know what else would have caused it to run lean.

When you turn it over (try starting) does it go faster then ussual or slow? if its really fast you might have something to worry about, otherwise I would keep looking at small things.

If it was turning over faster then usual it means you lost some compression

Ouch - Ok, Tommorow after work I'll check it out. Could those Impala injectors have caused me to run lean?

What size are the injectors you put in? If they are larger than stock you should have been running very rich or if smaller to lean.

Just a thought.

wouldn't a rich condition cause the cat to glow becuase of the elevated temps etc....
