Problem after cam and opti swap

I just finished my cam swap and vented opti swap. I fired the car up and it started, but acted like the throttle was wide open. I've checked the throttle body and nothing seems to be bound up or sticking. This was my first experience with a vented opti and was wondering if they fit on more then one way, I don't remember have'ing to force on or anything.

what could cause it to idle at 4k, i've been through all the the vacuum lines and electrical hookups and can't seem to find anything wrong with it.

sounds like a vacuum leak to me. if the tb is closed then air must get in from somewhere or it wouldnt run. check out the IAC motor to see if its stuck open and maybe spray some carb cleaner around vacuum leak prone areas like the manifold and tb to see if the idle spikes any indicating a leak.

try re-setting the IAC..

with the car off hold the throttle down a little bit and start the car, let run for 5 seconds then turn off..

let car sit off for 10 seconds..

start car again with foot off pedal, and the IAC is reset.. it should idle normal again. If not either the IAC is completley bad, or its a vacuum leak

I recently saw a post similar to this and the guy have removed the injectors during the work. One was not re-installed all the way and was causing a huge air leak. Not sure if this applies to you, if you did not remove any injectors.

I didn't remove the injectors, but I did find the problem last night. I pulled the intake back off and found that one of the gaskets had fell out of place. It was laying in the lifter valley runs a whole better now, lol.

Same result. Huge air leak. Strange. The FelPro gaskets I used, had little plastic locators to keep the gasket from going anywhere during installation.

Can you install the manifold leaving those plastic locators in place? I didn't know so took them out.

I didn't see them as significant and left them there. As I recall, they were not in a place that would be detrimental to sealing any ports and seemed soft enough that they would crush down.

i left mine on too, was a good idea imo that they were there. Made sure that didnt happen

i figure whatever leak they might have created, was well taken care of by the RTV
