pro 5.0 shifter.. nice! but ouch!

i just put in a pro 5.0 shifter with a short stick that i bought from someone on this board... man, talk about a huge change!

its gonna take some getting used to how low the shift **** sits now.... also, i didnt know that the stock shifter had a rubber dampener in it to make the powershifts less "jarring" on your wrist.. with the pro 5.0 and the shortstick, i have already zinged my wrist pretty good..

anybody know where i can get a rubber boot that i can bolt in place of the stock one? i would rather drilll a couple holes than put the stock rubber boot back on half assed..

just something universal or something that you have used..

also, anyone know what the total decrease in throw it is with say, the pro 5.0 and a lou's short stick over stock?

thanks,

josh

Don't shift so hard...You must like bending shift forks if you shift that hard

On mustangs I think the pro 5.0 is around 33% shorter throws. Dunno about F-bodies but I'm gonna guess around the same. And yeah, don't slam it into gear so hard, if it's hurting your wrist it's too much. Congrats on never missing a gear again.

i hope that the reason im bangin the gears like i am is cause ive only had it on for a day so far... maybe when i get used to it, i'll learn to do it right..

and yea, feels like im never gonna miss a gear again with it..

It definitely takes some getting used to. When I put mine in it took me a few days to get the hang of it. I was used to slamming the stock shifter into gear, no need to anymore.
