Priming after oil change

I have searched the site and haven't found an answer to my question. Does anyone know any way to prime an LT1 oil system prior to starting after an oil change? If I pull the fuse for the fuel pump will the computer throw a code? I'm looking for an easy no hassle way to do it. My 95 spun the no.1 rod bearing with only 65k on it. My wife drove the car as her daily driver. I know it wasn't abused. The only thing I could think that caused it was semi dry starting. When I would start the car after an oil change, it would rattle the rods for a second or two. I changed the oil religously every 2k with the correct oil. Old school type PM.

Fill the filter with oil before you start it, that will be plenty.

That's not what caused your spun bearing. If it was, every car would have spun a bearing by now. If you still want to give it some cranks without it starting, pull the PCM BATT fuse. And fill the filter, as already mentioned.

Yeah, I always fill the filter to the top before installation. I figured the engine must of been built incorrectly from the factory but, just wanted to make sure it doesn't happen with my replacement engine. It's a lot of work to pull an engine out of one of these cars! I have never had an SBC fail me during it's regular service life. Oh well, luck of the draw.

A buddy of mine threw a rod through the bottom of the pan on his '95 TA just accellerating in heavy traffic from a red light, not even trying to go above 30mph, had 80k on the clock when that happened...so its basically luck of the draw as you say, it was his wife's car and was never hammered on.

Alot of cars have sideways filters, making it impossible to fill. i always fill them when i can but it should not matter.
