I just got back from a few places and i was pricing the following parts.... Timing Chain, both Sprockets, and gasket....
This is what i got as prices......
Big Daddy's Performance $639
Local Chevy Dealer $120

My question is.... How in the world is there so much of a variable in the amounts?????

$120.00 from the dealer sounds about right for a stock LT1 timing set.

I've never heard of one for the LT1 for as low as $53??? What brand was that?

$639.00 from "Big Daddy's".... maybe if he's manufacturs his own gears out of titanium or something, never heard of an LT1 timing set being that expensive.

I would just get a stock set if you need a new one, if you want something much stronger get the LT4 Extreme, price ranges from $185 -$300 depending who you get it from.

Get the LT4 Extreme Duty from Jason Cromer at Sam Taylor's. It is well worth the money.

Also, I have recently ordered some stuff from Jason and was very pleased. The stuff was sent out right away and the shipping charges were very reasonable. He is a good guy that is offering great prices to us at very little over cost. Make sure that you mention CamaroZ28.com.

I've seen some aftermarket LT1 sets list for $600-$700. That Autozone one is too low... I bet that is a standard small block Chevy one or something. Go for the Extreme Duty set as recommended above.

I just bought a timing chain from O'Reilly here in Houston... It was a Cloyes I only paid $96.00 for it... The only thing it didn't have was the water pump gear... Im sure it was a cheaper version of their extrem duty one...
