Preloading lifters with car running question

I just got done with a cam install and am in the process of preloading the lifters/lashing the valves. I did it with the car running and followed shoebox's site when doing it but all of the rockers look like they are in the same position. The car ran fine when I was adjusting the rockers and afterwards as well but when I shut the car off, all the rockers look like the same. Am I doing something wrong or am I just not seeing something right? Thanks in advance.

If you followed Shoebox's instructions to a T, you should have no problems. The rockers may look like they are all in the same position but they are probably not. Did you see them move when you were adjusting them with the motor running? If you did then everything's OK. Just follow the instructions. BTW, tighten them to zero lash (the point where the ticking sound from the rocker stops) one by one as quickly as you can. Then turn off the motor and out your 1/4 or 1/2 turn of preload, however much you prefer, on the rockers and replace the valve covers.
