swaybar removal

with a bolt on car, is this mod have any relavent effects on 60 ft times? Also, what is the weight on the front sway bar. Im trying to come up with things to improve my 60 ft times (in sig), so any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Prorac1

Removing the frt. bar will help with weight transfer and also take some weight off the frt. end. Both of these will have a positive effect on 60 ft times and et to an extent. Don't expect a major gain but you should see a slight improvement.

I pull the frt. bar off my car when I drag race and also the brackets that the bushings rest on. I've never weigh all this stuff but if I have to guess with the bar and all the brackets and stuff it probably comes out to about maybe 20 lbs. off the frt. end, could be more. Every little bit helps.

Do you have 60ft times and et's before and after you installed a Spohn torque arm? I'm looking at one and possibility pick one up but I would like to know if it really makes a big difference in 60 ft. times over the stk. setup.

Thanks for the reply. Have you driven the car on the street with it off. How did it handle, was it awful. Im thinkin about leaving the sway bar off of the car. i drive pretty normal on the street (no fast and furious stuff here). As for the torque arm i do have before and after times. but, i also did a th350 (from a 4l60) put in a 3600 converter (from a 2800) and used slicks. so its not a fair comparison. times before all that stuff was 13.70 @ 102 with a 1.98 60 ft. Times after are in sig. Sorry for doing to many mods at once . hope this helps, and once again thanks for the reply. Prorac1

Yes, I've driven it on the street with it off and personally it's pretty sloppy. The frt. end feels lazy and leans a bit more than I would like for a sports type car but with the bar bolted back up it works just fine. Handling with the bar off sucks especially if you want to take corners agressively (which I usually like to do) but with the 17 in wheels and tires it's alright, but it's much better once the bar is on.

I'm looking at the torque arm because I would like to hook better with my setup at the track. Back in Aug. I ran a best et of 13.239@103mph. The car now is running 13.30's all day trapping almost 105mph however my 60 ft. times are still kinda crap at 2.0 (had a couple of 1.98's last time I raced, not a big difference). If a torque arm can help me hook better (maybe a 1.7-1.8) I'll be knocking on high 12's with the limited amount of engine mods that I have, it would be quite an accomplishment.

I've had the sway bar off my car for almost 2 years now and i dont even notice it being gone anymore. The first couple times you drive it on the street it'll feel a little different, but you'll get used to it fast and it really isnt bad at all.

I agree.
You can tell its off for the first few turns but then you get used to it and don,t notice it.
I have DRs and skinnies up front so I don,t take turns fast anyway.
