1/4-1/2 turn is good on replacement or factory style lifters. Ya know 90* past vertical or from 12 O'clock ya turn it to 3 O'clock and that's PM CST.

There's a danger in overthinking this stuff.

Pick a reference... 12 o'clock, 2 o'clock... whatever, and turn the darned thing.

Re: Preload with Comp Pro Mags?

Start with 1/8 turn and try it out.

There isn't a concrete answer on any of this. Me, I start at 1/8 turn and try it at the track. Back it off a tad and run it again. If it improves, then it might like to be nearer to "0".

Lightbulb Re: Preload with Comp Pro Mags?

I figure, if they got as far as taking the rocker cover off... ie, they knew which way to turn the bolts to loosen them. They can probably turn the rocker stud nut the right direction.

No guarantee that anyone will get this stuff. Some should stick to surfing the net or playing video games if this proves too difficult.

No, precision is everything in spelling.

Whatever preload you use (from nearly none to 1 turn), you should at least try to make them all the same with whatever method you use to gauge it.

from shbox.com:
For reference:
3/8" stud: ½ flat = .003472"
7/16" stud: ½ flat = .00416"
Rotating the nut 1/6 of a turn (until the next flat side is in the same position as the previous flat side) is a "flat".
