Preferred Motor Oil
I'm getting ready to change the oil in my 94 Z28 w/396 stroker motor. Since I'm planning on driving it in the winter, what motor oil do you think would be best to use?
In the old days, we would throw Valvoline 20W -50 in it and we'd be good to go, but engine and oil technology has changed a lot since those days.

I use Valvoline Maxlife 10w-30 All year round.... My car goes in the garage for the winter but comes out on those few nice winter days for a lil rip.... Before I switched to Maxlife, I used Mobil 1 5w-30
I believe the LT1 likes the oils that are on the thicker end of the 30wt scale, and even to the lower end of the 40wt scale (especially in the summer if you see high oil temps)
I'd recommend Amsoil 5w30, Redline 5w30 or the new German made Castrol Syntec 0w30 (which is what I'm currently running and will have oil analysis results on it in about two weeks)
