precautions when restarting the car
My ignition switch broke down, yet again, a month and a half ago or so...
I kinda got fed up with fixing the car, so I let it sit behind my house all this time. It's covered with dust, etc, the only thing I have done a couple weeks ago is pushing it a couple feet so it doesn't sit on the tires at the same spot all the time.
To give you an idea, when I opened the door, there were three spiders on the shifter and parking brake
so, anyways, I'm eventually going to fix it this week. But I was wondering if there are any precautions to take with a car that hasn't run for a while ; plus it is on a steep slope (driver side lower), so I am assuming all the fluids are on one side of the engine / tranny, etc.

well, I like it but I am tired of the heavy maintenance on it
now I've let it rest for a while, so I'm ready to deal with it again... I used to work on it a lot when I was racing, but now the past year I've use it mostly for commuting and it's really not a good car for that purpose; it's just one of these love / hate thing

I would recommend an overnight trickle charge before you tried to start it. Your battery will loose some charge naturally when you leave your car sit for extended perods of time. And for that reason it's a good idea to make sure it is fully charged as not to stress your alternator (Alternators are usually killed by weak batteries. ) Contrary to popular belief, alternators are not meant to charge batteries, just maintain them and run the engine.
