PPL with a forged 355 inside pls...
welp time has come, as well as the cash flow, to do a rebuild. a friend of mine just did his motor and it sounds absolutly wicked. i want to do a complete forged 355. i will be running nos on it so i want it ta be able ta handle a 200 shot, tho i will not go that high. my friend sent his heads to a guy in ill, i think, and they cost him about a grand, i am lookin ta spend about 3000 on this motor. if any1 can give me links and prices to the parts i will need it would be appreciated. what does everyone think of the forged kit from summit?? they want like 540 for the rotating assy.
thanx in advance for all the help.
P.S.- i know PLENTY of ppl that can help me build it so a machine shop is'nt needed other than ta do the acctual machining of the block.

Are you wanting a forged crank, rods & pistons?
The kit from Summit only comes with forged pistons.
If you are doing ported heads, cam and Nitrous you will probably be exceeding the 500hp limit of the stock rods. Also, you would probably spend more than 3k on a complete forged bottom end.
You can get a 355 from combination motorsports for $2995 with cam and timing chain or you could build one for a little less since you're planning on doing it yourself.

cagle i would go with just forged pistons and rods i don't think you will need the crank depending upon how hardcore you get. Gonna spray huh? i knew you couldn't pass me NA
My heads were done by phil odem his name on here is skarodom. His website is www.advancedinduction.com. He has diff. levels of heads depending upon price. I have never heard anything bad about phil and his price to quality ratio is unbelieveable. I have his "econoport" They cost me 1k one other guy on here named Grease has them also and put down 412 rwhp

Dave, I dunno where you've been but the term "NOS" is decades old!! You know the brand, "NOS"? It stands for Nitrous Oxide System. It's what the grammatically correct folks like to call an "ACRONYM". Like calling cops "PD" (short for police department), or saying M6 (manual 6-speed), or a Mustang SVT (Special Vehicle Team), it's only natural to call a NITROUS OXIDE SYSTEM "NOS"...
