Powerslide at 75 into median

well, all i have to say is that obviously did some damage, cracked rims on passenger side, had some problems balancing the wheels afterwards and i think this is the culprit. How much should this cost to replace and my brother says its the tie rod? How much are the parts and how much would labor be? would it be hard to fix yourself?

i suppose that link might be helpful

thanks in advance

EDIT: have a new set of stock rims, so that no longer is a problem

are you sure the tie rod in that pic is bent?

pull the clamps off that rubber/plastic dust boot and see how it looks

I havent taken the dust boot off to look at it but I will, the outside of my front passenger side wheel wears on the outside more than any of my other wheels, and its not from hard turning if that helps

check under that boot, but it does sound like it is bent, it is pretty easy to replace, you should see how once you move that boot, you will need an alignment after though

yes, the clamp at the rack end will probably be ruined by removing it, the clamp at the other end is a sping clamp and can just be slid down the tie rod, the clamp at the rack end can be replaced with a zip tie temporily if necessary, or a regular hose clamp permanently

then just slide the boot down the tie rod

A new inner tie rod will cost about $30. But I doubt you bent it. Does the car pull to one side ? Your tire wear could also be because your camber is out. If there's room, you can take the inner tie rod off with an adjustable wrench. If not, you'll probably need an inner tie rod removal/installation tool. If you do change it, just remember to count the threads when you take off the outer tie rod so you can put it on the new inner tie rod in about the same place. Then take it to an alignment shop.

would coolant glow in ultraviolet light? because i believe the a/c dye is supposed to, and if coolant doesnt, that would make that problem more clear to which one is doing the leaking
