Re: Powermaster Alternator

The only thing I've have come up with is an Powermaster alternator Part # pwn- 17805 to replace the stock alt. It's a 140 volt alt and the price is 319.95 from summit. I tring to get a better price from byunspeed.com, But I have not posted it to him yet.By the way Byunspeed .com Young will meet there price plus he don't charg shipping and handling . Well It's already included in his price for the same price.
Just let him know you heard it from Rob from SFFFA or this site here.

Re: Powermaster Alternator

I saw in the latest issue of GM Hightech were they used a Powermaster alt from a TPI engine which is a little smaller than LT1 but works in the stock bracket.
I'm going to give that one a try because I brought a set of tall centerbolt valve covers and I'm trying to gain every bit of clearance that I can.

You can also look at Mr. Alternator http://www.mralternator.com/ They have F-Body specific units that you can get in colors or chrome.

Re: Powermaster Alternator

I'd seriously consider these guys: http://www.4alterstart.com/

I purchased a 180 amp alt off of them years ago and it's still working great and it was a lot cheaper than any others. A lot of s-10 guys are running their alternators and I haven't heard anything negative out of them.

They were selling on ebay, don't know if they still are or not.

-what kind of problems are you haveing?
The stock acdelco works great, I would only upgrade if I had a lot of draw; like haveing a system. If this is the reason I would also upgrade your wireing. I'm waiting on these to come in the mail this week. http://innovativewiring.com/camaro/c...omepagenew.htm
The pics of the wires are mine and the quality is superb. Look at those one ott (not sure on the spelling 1/0) wires!!

Re: Powermaster Alternator

Mr Z28,

How soon are you going to be trying that?
I need some tall valve covers to clear my shaft mount rockers and I don't want to relocate the alternator.
Also, What valve covers did you get and how do you like them?

thanks

Re: Powermaster Alternator

Tcal95Z I'm waiting on the valvecovers now I purchased them from a place called Rodworx. Here's the web address: http://rodworx.com/valve_covers.php pn 6047
As soon as they com I'll test fit everything on the engine stand before putting the engine in the car.

Oh by the way I also ordered the BMR tubular k-member and Pacesetter long tubes and I'm going to see if all this and the Milodon 7qt 8.25" deep kickout oilpan will fit in the car with adequate ground clearance, I'll keep you posted.

Re: Powermaster Alternator

MRZ,

Any word on when you might receive those valve covers? From Looking at my T&D shaft mounts I can't see how anything that doesn't come straight up off the head like the canton valve covers will work.

Do you have any pics for that alternator and valve covers?

Thanks
