Power Windows
Yeah LT1's are faster than your typical Mustang GT or import, (I'm 15-1 on imports, 3-0 on GT's plus a cobra, the import that roasted me was a twin turbo supra with 550 rwhp) but when it comes to the power window motor race, we come in last place every time. I've owned four different camaro's from 3rd - 4th gen, and my friends always ask me: "Why are your windows so g*****n slow?" I'm still trying to figure out the answer to that question. Is there anyone on this message board that has found a way to use a window motor from a ford, dodge, import etc?
Lol...are windows are hella slow. My driver window doesn't even work for more than 2 seconds before it stops. I don't think the passanger window is much futher away from dieing either. I would like to know what is the best upgrade also.
lol yeah our windows sucks... my drivers window motor gave up on me and had to replace it. I knew i had to change it when i was at the track with the windows down. When it was almost my turn my window wouldnt go up, so i had to ask the guys in charge of the track to pull the window up, hehe it was pretty funny
yeah, more glass...this is true, but other motors go up lots faster and last lots longer. I'm about to replace my passenger motor for the second time in 6 months not to mention I've allready replaced the drives side once(car only has 32k mi total). This sucks, GM can not make a good window motor can they?
Here is the kicker, if GM could make a good window, would they? Or would they just continue to take our money. I believe they would just continue to take our money. Anyone else agree...Lawsuit???.
...I'm really ticked incase yall couldn't tell.

I've read on here that the Siemen's replacement motors work alot faster than the GM ones for the f-bodies, just bought one at Autozone yesterday, guess I'll know soon if they are faster, probably replace it this weekend.
And these windows are heavier than a Suburban's window, alot more surface area, alot longer door.

I just went out and measured both vehicles.
Camaro window is about 15X39=585
Suburban front window is about 28X22=616
Suburban rear window is 32X21=672
I dont know how to figure the exact surface area, but I know that the Subrban windows are very close to the same size if not bigger. They are also MUCH faster.

The only other thing that may make them faster is because they have a full window frame around the door window that is part of the door, and if they are like my truck, they have a hard plastic guide on the window edges that ride all the way up the door window frame, thus keeping them aligned and even, and probably are pretty much friction free since the guide tracks are lined with felt and its hard plastic sliding up and down the tracks.
May also have to do with how wide the "scissor" lift mechanism is inside the door lifting the window, shorter scissor arms will extend faster than longer scissor arms for the longer f-body window.
2quick6 Let me know if you see a diffrence this weekend. I have mine already to go in but, now I'm thinking I should wait and see your out come. Chevroletfreak let me know if you figure out how to use the Suburan Motor. I have a couple of Junk yard ones out of a stock Z28 and now I'm getting scared they might not work for very long.
