Power Steering No Assist - Help!

Hey Board-

Thanks for the help with my erlier issues with lash and cooling. I am rounding the home stretch here and ran into a problem with the power steering system.

I replaced the pump and pulley (with a nice shiny MBA one). I did not bleed it prior to startup and had no power assist. I have attempted to bleed it three times by raising the front end and going back and forth stop to stop like 30 times while cold with the engine off. Do I need to then do this with the engine running? The fluid does rise when I hit the stops. It feels just like it does when the belt is off - nothing.

Any thoughts as to what to do next?

As always, your help is appreciated.

Should I be going back and forth to the stops with the engine running?

Thanks shoebox

Shoebox-

Thanks. I actually referenced your bleed procedure. You page has alot of good stuff there.

Since the bleed procedure does not seem to be working, should I revert to the flush and refill procedure?

SOLVED

SOLVED!!!

When I installed the new PS Pump. I removed a plug from the pressure side by unscrewing it. I looked quickly at the other side and did not notice a plug so I went ahead and installed it. (this was a rebuilt pump by the way).

There was absolutely no pressure.

This little red plug (that was painted black like the rest of the pump) was trapped in the non-pressure side. I removed it, bled the system and viola!

Thanks for you help.
