Power steering felp!

Heathers PS stopped working suddenly last night. it has fluid. power steering works a LITTLE at high rpm(like 5k). I can see a few drips udner the car, but nothing big. I am thinking the pump is toast? no odd noises from it tho.

Cool

I have no PS until I rev to 2 grand, then it works fine. Pump is toast. I went through one already. Stick on a PS cooler and things shouldnt' be as bad after buyign a new pump. Heat kills those things.
I've got some small trans coolers if you wanna do that, just send me an email

Inner rack seals can cause it, but you normally see a loose of fluid. Look and see if the boot ends have filled with fluid. Test gauge on ps pump if you have one. Does the rack have a internal control valve? Hell, toss a pump at it, it's a 50/50 chance and the easyest.

Cool

Look under the car. If the rack has oil all over it,then it's toast. On my third one now as we speak. My mechanic explained the lock up like this.---There is a piston type thing in there(The rack)and oil is slipping back and forth past the piston,(not supposed to),and then this locks it up as there is no place for the fluid to go.Hope this helps.(Did you folks notice this more when it's cold outside?)
