power stearing/power brakes question

Just a minute ago the power stearing and power brakes went out on my Dad's 96' GM safari Van. Both went out at the same time for no apparent reason. What should I look for? what could cause this?
thanks guys
Josh

Check the belt first. That would be the first guess for the power steering. As for the brakes, start checking the brake booster vacum lines or the abs module if equiped. Not sure though, I don't drive a truck

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the Safari have a Hydroboost system for the brakes? If so, the brake assist is provided by the pressure from the P/S pump, and I would first check the P/S fluid level. If that is fine, you may need a new pump. Also check for any broken pressure or return lines, or leaks anywhere. Good luck!!!
