Power shifting is shifting the car through the gears w/the gas pedal always on the floor. This is done mostly at the track for lower ETs. This is not recommended for street driving because doing so over and over will cause drivetrain and trans. probs. At the track, if you are not a regular runner I would say go for it. If you go alot and run your car, I would stay away for it, unless you you are REALLY wanting to beat a best time you had in the past. But eventually it will cause probs. for your car.

It's the only way to shift.

Think of it this way ...

Would you violently REV THE **** out of your engine in Nuetral and bounce it off the REV limiter, then MURDER the clutch by holding the throttle pinned while you let it out ?

Its REALLY hard on the car. It's also REALLY fun . Dont make it a habit though.

Umm if you dont shift fast enuff to get it off the limiter between shifts wow i bet you lose every race. If shifted fast enuff it wont stay in the red long.

umm I think what you might be talking about is known as "double cluthing". This is done to stop alot of accessive spin off the line.

The second part is merly shifting without raising the gas pedal. This must be done knowing what RPM you will be at whaen the clutch is engaged and let out so you don't bounce the rev. limiter (or not if you have your programming set to no rev point). But I would always set a rev pointwithin reason. I know people who deleate there rev limiter in programing and that's vey dangerous if they miss a gear. High RPM already and no rev limit = BOOM (new motor)

wow, so many people have a skewed view on what double clutching is.

Double clutching is for downshifts, and incase you dont know how to do it, it goes a little something like this.

Engage clutch
Shift into neutral
Disengage clutch
Rev motor
Engage Clutch
Shift into lower gear

Double clutching is done to match the rpms, incase you dont have synchronizers, or because its alot smoother.

And now onto what the other guy said. I was always told there are two ways to powershift. 1) (the ***** way ) where you keep the gas to the floor and clutch and shift as fast as you can or 2) ( the real way ) where you keep your foot to the floor and just slam it into the next gear.

I prefer the clutch ( ***** ) method, because its just a tiny bit easier on the car

yeah, sorry if i came across like an a-hole, it just pisses me off when i hear people at school or around here tell me double clutching is when you "have the clutch and gas down at the same time" And then tell me i am a tool for saying what i just said.

But on another note, has anyone ever powershifted without the clutch. My dad always makes fun of me for powershifting with the clutch, and i dont have the ***** to try what he says. And i dont think its worth it to waste your tranny trying to shift a tiny bit faster
