Well it's been my experience it's only worth about a .10th in the 1/4. Hardly worth it if you ask me concidering the abuse your car takes unless it's a track car only and you rebuild often.

yeah, sorry if i came across like an a-hole, it just pisses me off when i hear people at school or around here tell me double clutching is when you "have the clutch and gas down at the same time" And then tell me i am a tool for saying what i just said.
if they think you are a tool for saying that go and kick their *** with your car and they'd be like oh i suppose he was right...

lol I dont powershift MY car. My friends cars though ... And when I was with my friend in his Jeep, he was powershifting and coming really close to bouncing off the limiter, so I just figured if you miss a shift or something, it would be a BAD thing to do lol letting the engine spin freely at close to 6K

wow, so many people have a skewed view on what double clutching is.

Double clutching is for downshifts, and incase you dont know how to do it, it goes a little something like this.

Engage clutch
Shift into neutral
Disengage clutch
Rev motor
Engage Clutch
Shift into lower gear

Double clutching is done to match the rpms, incase you dont have synchronizers, or because its alot smoother.

And now onto what the other guy said. I was always told there are two ways to powershift. 1) (the ***** way ) where you keep the gas to the floor and clutch and shift as fast as you can or 2) ( the real way ) where you keep your foot to the floor and just slam it into the next gear.

I prefer the clutch ( ***** ) method, because its just a tiny bit easier on the car
thank you for helping to prove myself lol....

so,,if you are at redline,,and youkeep the gas pedal floored, and press in the clutch, what are you rpms going to do? bounce off the rev limiter vionetly,,,you are also basically droping the clutch into the next gear,,when i power shift my tires break loose,,cuz instead of hitting 2nd or 3rd at ,,say 4000 rpms,,ur hitting it at 6000, which causes tire slippage,,which slows down et's right?
if you shift close to redline,,and you power shift,,ur rpms are going to hit that rev limiter soo fast. whats the point?

Powershifing without the clutch will (eventually) break syncros in the trans.

Best technique is to preload the shifter, ie give it some tension just before the shift point, and "jam it" while flicking the clutch in a side-steeping motion. Practice initially by coming ~half off the gas, then start trying WOT shifts. When you get it right, it should sound like an auto with a shift-kit.

lol whats it sound like not using the clutch at all and RIPPING the shifter back into a different gear ? Any grinding and **** ? I jsut cant justify risking a tranny job for .1 or .2 in the 1/4 ... lol
