Is it true that these things are VIN coded? And are they supposed to come with an OBD1 and OBD 2 connector? My buddy just picked one up but it only has the OBD2 connector with it.

The hypertech power programers record the cars vin # and can only be used with that car , unless you set it back to factory settings. Then you can use it on another car. Also they are year and make specific. If he got one with the wrong plug end, then he got the wrong year and make. In MHO they are a waste of money. You can get all the computer adjustments that hypertech includes and more from a tunner like madwolf, pcmforless or a laptop program. for less $$$
