How many miles are on the opti? Also have you checked the codes to see if any are present? You can have codes without a SES light.

Closed loop refers to the oxygen sensors. Get a scanner and let us know what codes are present.

what code you have could be very important, you need to get them read right away

You could try disconnecting the o2 sensors and see if the car runs fine after it warms up.

Get it scanned, if there are no codes, see if the garage scanning it can use their computer to data stream. If they can, watch the O2 sensors, they should constantly fluctuate between 100-900 mV. If one is slower than the other, is sticking at any one position, or has a limited range, your probly going to be looking at replacing them.

Since it only does it when it warms up, that means it is very possibly a sensor related issue. The computer for your car operates in open loop when cold, running off of set parameters in the PCM. Once it reaches operating temperature, it uses information from sensors (Such as the oxygen sensors in the exhaust) to adjust air/fuel and timing. This is called Closed Loop operation.

Hard to tell you anything else without getting codes scanned, or sensors data streamed.

good explanation here, and right pretty much cant help anymore. but another sensor you might want to look at is the coolant temp
