Possible Vacuum leak? where does this go?

I was wondering if this could be a cause for low vacuum? and where does it go?

The vacuum line in the fuel line loom just ends and doesn't go to anything.

thanks

It's for your EVAP system. The line bundled with the fuel lines goes to the charcoal canister.

When my evap solenoid is unplugged, I get an SES light.

I believe it will not use manifold vacuum to draw vapors from the canister if disconnected.
May affect the purge on an evap test. 96 and newer were obd2 and may throw a light.

When the EVAP purge solenoid is activated by the PCM, you will have a vacuum leak without that hose connected. As noted above, normally that vacuum pulls air through the charcoal canister, picking up the fuel vapor is has collected. With the line disconnected, you are pulling air into the engine, rather than the fuel vapor. The charcoal canister will eventially saturate, and then you will get a fuel smell at the driver's rear fender.

Surprised your 96 hasn't set a code at this point. There is a vacuum detection switch in the line on the OBD-II cars.

well it did have a code for a while, but i thought it was related to an o2 sensor, dtc 33 or something, i need to double check. the car has an obd1 tuned by ion.

i am probably going to drop the motor today, most of the stuff has been disconnected over the past few days.

You might want to include that kind of info in your signature, or at least in your post when you ask a queston like this. You will not get codes for the EVAP vacuum in OBD-I, because there is no vacuum switch. You would still get the code for the EVAP solenoid if its not hooked up, or programmed out.

DTC 33 is for the MAP sensor.

sorry about that, originally i was just wondering if that would have anything to do with my low vacuum for the brakes and possible high crankcase pressure, that was what i was originally trying to find out about.

but i will make sure to add that in my sig.

thanks

i did however remove this plastic cylinder down by the underside of the passenger side kind of below the headlight, seems like a vacuum canister but the line was broken and didn't go to anything.

That is the reserve vacuum canister for the HVAC system. If you did not isolate it's feed line from engine vacuum, then you have a leak.
