Um...No. Unless it's an LS1 or an older SBC with horizontal bars on the lifters.

its not something i would recomend, but i have done it before on a factory roller 350 and it turned out just fine,

i removed all the pushrods, then remove the timing chain and put the cam sprocket back on and spin the cam, this will push all the roller lifters up and if you get lucky they will all stay up, pull your cam out put the new cam in and push all the lifters back down with the push rods

Just wondering, how did you take care of the oil pump drive (or I'm guessing it wasn't an lt1)?

sounds like a recipe for disaster. I can hear it now....kerplunk!

EDIT: Regarding the oil pump drive, he said it was an older 350 which will have the pump powered by the distributor.

Undo the k-member and crossmember bolts and lift the car up.

The same way car owners, in general, approach their oil changes:

Let someone with no personal investment in your car, do something vital to it, all while making no real connection to the owner.

Throwing money at a problem will never propogate experience.

That sounds too risky. I wouldn't want to take any chances. I like to take my time and do it right the first time.
