possible noisy lifter

okay, i have promag 1.6 rockers and the comp r lifters. i have a slight tick noise coming from the passenger side of the engine that almost sounds like a light rocker click. you cant hear the noise with the hood shut. you can hear it if you open the hood and lean in to the bay a bit. i have been over those rockers about 10 times and they are all on perfect (as far as i can tell). all set with a 1/16 preload. the noise is sometimes sporadic. like it could be there for five minutes and then gone the next five. its not an exhaust leak and its not a rocker. the only thing i can think that it could be is a lifter. is this possible? i know these lifters dont have the best reputation in the world, so that is what concerns me. i havent pulled the intake yet to check them but will do it if someone thinks it might require looking into more. anyone else have any ideas what this could be?

Re: possible noisy lifter

i'm assuming you meant did i adjust the rockers/lifters by setting the proper lash with this brand of rockers. i believe i have. i have set them all to an ~1/16 of a turn past zero lash. i set them all again yesterday with the engine off. no difference in clicking.

EDIT: basically, what i'm asking is that can the lifter itself be noisy even when the rockers are adjusted right? and if they shouldnt be, is there somewhere i should be looking for a problem?
