possible leak?
possible leak?
i have a 94 firebird in a faulty condition, its throwinin an engine light but not throwin any codes?tighten the bolts in the manifold and the exhaust switch the o2's around and the injectors and im still getting a reading of a 118 on bank 1 and 160 on the bank 2???so im thinking that if the reading doesnt change when i switch couple of parts around then it had nothing to do with the o2's nor the fuel injector's why is my car running lean on one side?
Re: possible leak?
What modifications, if any are on the engine? In particular.... throttle body and camshaft, as well as any others.
Are you saying the SES light was on, but when you scanned it with your scanner, no codes were present?

Re: possible leak?
yess i scanned the car several times and no codes is showing up...the car is fully stock just a ram air intake assembly kit...i switch the o2's around just to make sure its not the o2's that's messin up but im still getting desame reading of 118 bank 1 and 160 on bank 2 id ont want to kee it like that for long because it might damage my heads running lean is bad right i heard that its better to run rich coz the engine is cooled rather than lean ?!i have no exhaust leak or anything my question is how come im not getting any troubles codes with the scanner just so i can track down what the problems is?but everytime i reset the codes the light disappear and comes back on after 5 mins???

Misfire wouldn't cause the light.... there is no misfire detection in OBD-I.
Misfire could cause the 160 BLM. The O2 sensor sees the unburned air from the misfire in the exhaust, and thinks its running lean, then the PCM adds fuel the engine doesn't need, at least on that bank. BLM goes up, engine runs worse. Exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors cause the same problem.
But the thing that concerns me is the "split" on the BLMs..... why is one side adding fuel and the other cutting it?
You might gain some insight to the problem by looking at ALL of the BLM's, not just a single Cell. What Cell is the BLM you quoted (118 left/160 right) from? Was it at idle (Cell 16)? If you can get the BLM's from several cells ranging from low load/low rpm (01, 02) to high load/high rpm (14, 15) it might provide a hint as to when the problem occurs, and whether its something that is affected by load and RPM.
