is it possible to install old style block on our cars?

im not too overworked by this but heres the story: Finally got the car started and idling well today at the mechanics shop,(i should be taking the car home tomorrow),well, anyways this mechanic isnt too familiar with LT1's but he was telling me that the engine builder probly switched blocks. He said the block thats in there is from an old car i doubt it but its got me thinking,is that possible?do LT1's have different motor mounts than a standard SBC?i know all LT1 blocks are stamped with a "327" but i forgot where, can someone please tell me where its stamped?.i know the coolant passages are different for an LT1 but since the temp sensor wasnt connected yet,i have no idea if the car was overheating. Also, another questing for you meziere owners:how quiet are these Electric WP's supposed to be?when i turned the ignition i can barely feel (by putting hand on actual pump) that it was on,is it really supposed to run that low?

I am sure someone could figure out a way to put an older block in, but I doubt your's is. An LT1 water pump won't bolt up to an old style block, neither will the heads, intake, or opti. I should say the heads will bolt on, but the coolant passages aren't the same. But the intake won't work on old style heads.

It is cast with the 327 on the front and both sides. Plus, like Scott said...

To put a Gen 1 block in the 4th Gen, you would have to address the issue of fitting the mechanical distributor under the cowl (does yours have a conventional distributor on the top/back of the intake manifold?), then you would have to totally replace the 4th Gen PCM and all the electronics in the vehicle, like the speedo and tach, or keep the 4th Gen PCM and come up with a synthesized source for the low res pulse that the Opti-Spark distributor produces, and is required by the stock PCM for the fuel system to operate.

You would have some wierd looking hoses to connect the LT1 radiator to the conventional flow Gen 1 water pump. You would need a method to attach a 4th Gen specific trans, like the T56 or 4L60E to the back of the block....

I seriously doubt someone casually substituted a Gen 1 block for your Gen 2 LT1.... too many issues, and it would look totally unlike anyone elses 4th Gen......
