Possible header leak?
Last night i changed out the gasket on the passenger side header, (Edelbrock tes headers) Despite the noise level of air going down a bit. You can still hear the leak, sounds almost like a lifter gone bad. So before i took it for a road test i noticed the thick rich exhaust fumes seeping into the cockpit. My question is i'm probably going to order another set of headers, so do i change the one bad one or both. They were originally installed back in spring of '00. They were cut and welded to the cat so i dont want to change both headers only passenger side one! So what would you guy's do?
Any advice i can get will be appreciated thanks!
My luck it will be the y-pipe.
I'm hoping it will be an easy swap on the passenger side. But i remember what i went through getting them in there!

I would just take off the header and inspect it really good. I wouldn't buy a whole new set because you have a leak. If its a small leak you can get it welded up somewhere. Or you can try sending it back to edelbrock and maybe they can fix the defect if the problem is on the headers.
I agree with drewstealth, I wouldn't replace the headers unless one is seriously FUBAR. Has it been leaking ever since it was installed? If so, you probably should take it up with the shop. Otherwise, I'd look around and find the source of the leak. Like drewstealth said, it could be repaired or welded. There's some stsuff sold at AutoZone and the like called ThermoSteel. Its used to fix cracked manifolds and headers. If you have a small crack or something, that may do the trick.
Thanks guy's i will do that, the only reason i was thinking of a new set was because they have been on it since '00 and i live in maine and was worried about rusting out alittle! I appreciate your responses!
