Is it possible to fabricate a skip shift eliminator?

Seems like it shouldn't be that hard. Whats inside this wonderous little device? Can I build one at home? What do I need to do it?

I beleive it is just a resistor inside it, some people say they have made their own real cheap with parts from Radio Shack. Someone was making and selling them on Ebay for a while.

Don't bother with making one, you have a '94 right? With OBD1 you can just unplug the skip-shift and tie it back, no SES light, no skip-shift, 0 effort. Skip-shidt eliminators are a huge rip off.

unplug it from the tranny

Follow that link. Thats how i did mine and it worked well. Doesnt light up "skip shift" on dash, and doesnt lock you from gears. 10 min later, without even getting dirty, and you are finished

im tellin ya man, dont bother with any of that stuff, just unplug the wire for CAGS leading from the driver side of your tranny. You wont belive how easy it is. Dont waste time and energy with that other stuff. Atleast try unplugging it before you do that other stuff. I but some tape arount the plug after removing it from the tranny and ziptied it up out of the way. No skipshift light, no ses light, no problems.

Before the joys of PCM reprogramming, I removed the PCM and yanked both the CAGS solenoid wire and also the skip shift dash light's wire. I inserted some pins with short lengths of wire in their place to help seal the connection back up.

This will trigger DTC 84, but it won't light the SES.

Edit: this is for us OBD1 guys

I like this idea! Seems easiest and most friendly for adding it back later, for whatever reason. Thanks for all the responses though. What does the skip shift plug look like? 4 wires right?
