Poser for the day???

Somebody tell me why this wouldn't work.

If cooler air contains more 02 and provides more power, why couldn't you redirect the AC from the interior into the intake plenum to reduce the air temp of the inducted air?

Not talking about using the AC air alone, but introducting it with the intake air.

Even if the AC pulls a certain amount of power, perhaps the cooler air would compensate and then some to provide more power.

There must be some reason, but seems that if it was possible, the power guys would have designed something along time ago, since it would be cheaper than a turbo or SC.

After all engines seems to run much better in cooler temps.

Just food for thought.

I agree. The new ford lightning's actually do use the AC. Although supercharged, they introduce air from the AC to lower the intake charge and provide more power. However, i think they only do this at WOT or something like that.

I don't think the gain from the colder air would overcome the load caused by the A/C being used to net any power. I've heard this discussed somewhere before...

I suppose if one were to get their cabin cool, then at WOT switch off the AC, you could get the benefits of both.

Actually, they don't put air from the A/C into the intake, but the freon used for the A/C is used to cool the intercooler, like the NX N2Cooler (or whatever it's called), but it doesn't spray the freon, onto the intercooler, like the NX kit sprays the nitrous.

The gain from the cold air would not offset the lose from the power it takes to spin the ac compressor, if you went past the MAF itd cause problems, plus there is the IAC and if the ac was there you would have uneven tempature air and would read wrong. long debated question, lol its like the discussion of if you ran your altenator off your driveshaft or something youd free up some horses too.

they dont do it cause it cause condesation in the intake which is sucked into your motor. hot on outside+ cold air inside =water.
