dont feel bad dude, i ran a 15.0 @ 94 mph in the 1/4. I did sea foam it since, but havent been back to the track yet. not to mention my tires were at like 25psi.

 

mabe its a v6 with z28 badges? lol jp but my car has 2.73 and it shifts right at the line mabe a little after it, but it also traps 103 ish. 180k = lots of worn parts id check compression, mabe u got a bad valve spring or a bent push rod or somthing. but one time i did have bad plug wires and it was a real dog till i changed them, went from a 13.8 w/ a 2.3 60ft to a 14.6 with a 2.3 60 ft, give it a good tune up and see how it feels

 

pull your valve covers. i have cracked a stock valve spring before, its not that hard to do.

 

i have 2.73 gears and i ran 13.9 at 100 mls hr and yes it goes through the traps in sec gear hitting 3rd as u go through the trap.

 

Yeah, back when my car was a stock 2.73 auto, it would run 14.4 @ 97 and that was in second gear. Hell, the trans would loose 3rd and 4th gear periodically and I would still go to the track, just keeping it locked in 2nd, lol. 2.73s stink.

 

try launching at a higher rpm (2500ish)

 

Finally someone with a higher mileaged car then me! . But my 2.73's shift at 90-93 miles an hour. Check to see if you're shifting at 5700-5800 RPM, cause if it's going all the way to the rev limiter at 6200 or what ever stock is then you have a faulty tranny and that could also cause some slower times.

 

My car has 134,400 miles. This car used to be my brothers but it was basically handed down to me. He was an idiot with this car, she's on her 3rd motor and 3rd tranny The newest (replacement) LT1 longblock put in this car was about 13,000 miles ago...most recent tranny was about 2,000 miles ago. Since then I have added Kook's LT's and a cutout...she now hits 14 flat with a ****ty 2.3 60ft but traps 102mph (compared to stock 97mph)

 

182 THOUSAND miles.
Weak valve springs, low compression.
no motor lasts forever.
I am betting if you check those two will be a big part of the problem.
Mine has 160k on it and with the mods I have it should be running 12s.....but the best the old LT1 can do is 13.4.
Faster than yours but it gets slower every year, even though its kept in top tune.
Check all the basics for sure but I am afraid tis time for a rebuild if you want the most performance you can get.

 

i agree on the valve springs for sure!!
you cant start doggin on a car (especially a high mileage one) when its not in good running condition!
your opti could be shot or on its way out, same with the coil/ICM and fuel pump (stock GM pumps are junk)
also, stock coil wires are known too go bad
have you pulled any plugs?
diagnose whats wrong with it, then fix it and go back too the track

 

I'd ditch that LT1, sounds like you got a ****ter! I've got a 95 with 101K, LPE CAI, Hooker cat-back and 3.73's running 13.7 at 99mph. With those times something is seriously wrong though, just rebuild to a 383ci .

there is a big difference between 101k and 182k, but ill just let that slide for now

what about timing chain slack-these cars must have atleast 60k+ on them.
Also I am wondering if it is because of the newer fuels and bolt on mods that is creating an insufficent spark problem?? (hesitation on accel -idle to WOT)
seems to be a common problem alot lately

I used my snap-on scanner and found everything appears to be in spec

 

btw I just put my 3.42's and low milage limmited slip in.
Now it smokes both tires power brakin it - WHOOT

 

It a cut 2.4 and you saying it didnt spin? Thats tire spin from all hell, on a 2.0 that would have been a mid 14 sec run alone. What elavation are you at?
