I think I should have stayed with my fords this z28 is slow as hell.

this thing needs help any ideas??

 

Those are horrible times, how is the car running? Is it throwing any codes? How many miles? Has it been recently tuned up? It could be any number of things making that car a dog but something is def wrong. Need more info.

 

Maybe that 330' is telling you to get rid of the car.

it doesn't start pullin till 3k ,hesistates off the line. It is the same if I leave @1500 (approx.) rpms or I just stomp the pedal from a stand still.

the car has the following:
182000 miles on the clock
flowmaster cat back
underdrive pulleys
bbk t/body
new trans (auto)
K/N fipk
gutted cat
plugs ,wires, fuel filter, and opti replaced 2yr's ago
no codes present

 

Yikes. Yeah, that is slow. Not right kinda slow. Any rough idling? Arcing wires? Trouble codes? Smoke?

 

it runs a lil rough at idle but I have seen worse, no smoke ,checked wires last night in the dark none arcing. It goes into third gear at the traps btw.

 

I take it is an auto. Some of the auto's had 2.7? gears. You might have crappy gears. Do you have a way to scan it to see if the o2's or any other issues don't seem right even if it isn't throwing any codes. You said it had 160 or 180k miles on it. I'd check compression. Throw some new plugs in it.

As far as the shift to 3rd goes, if it's the 3.23 rear at the stock shift point of 5700rpm (with stock tire diameter) would come at roughly 81-82mph. With the 2.73 gear @ 5700 would be more like 103mph.

Maybe check for vacuum leaks and double check the condition of your plugs and wires. Sounds like you're saying it's weak down low but catches and then pulls fine from 3k up?

 

it has no power down low. shouldn't it be in third gear b4 the traps even with 2.73's??

 

I'm pretty sure I've read a post here, or even someone's signature, that had 2.73s that said it was still in second. Hopefully someone with 2.73s will notice this and chime in with their experience.

I'd do the basics first, checking for vacuum leaks and trying to find signs of arcing. I recently found some arcing of my wires right where they snake around the accessory bracket, very hard to see. Maybe even double check the TPS adjusted correctly.

 

No 2.73 F-bodies should be going through the traps in 2nd gear...

Wow even my freakishly slow LT1 runs faster than that. My 94 Formula, A4 2.73 gears ran a 14.6 @ 97 with 2.3 60' stock...granted that was here in AZ with 2300 altittude and it was about 100 degrees outside at 10:00 PM.

-There is definently something wrong with your car...NO LT1 should be running that slow of times. I personally would take it to a local performance shop and throw it on the dyno, have em hook it up to a wideband and see what's goin on
