porting MAF?

porting MAF?

many internet sources for pages on instructuiobs for removing the screen and cuttin out the center bars....then reinsterting sensors....but also many people say that this leans out the car after so many mi, the granetelli site also says its a bad idea to stock port w/o programming....anyone have experiences with this?????????

Don't do it.
This will only make your mass airflow sensor less accurate and it won't add any power. Your stock housing flows enough.

I concur, porting the MAF is a stupid mod. It's a precision measuring device that poses no restriction, not to mention it's one of THE most important sensors used by the PCM. The only proper way to adjust WOT fueling is to adjust the PE tables used by the PCM.... period! When it comes time to reprogram the PCM, most mail order tuners will wisely shy away from people with ported MAF's.

There are some people that support hacks like this but that's what it is, a hack. There's a reason I run !MAF now, if only I was smarter back in the day and didn't try this "mod".
