Ported TB gain

Would a ported TB be good for a tenth and 1 mph in the 1/4 mile, on an intake/catback car?

Yes, if the engine is modified and needs more air; IMO on a totally stock engine its a waste of money

Re: Ported TB gain

The stock throttle body can support up to 400 hp, so a ported TB would not help you at all...

Your money would be much better spent on Longtube headers, 1.6 RR's, Madwolf Tune, Electric Waterpump or gears.

If you port the TB thats gonna cause problems I believe. Because the throttle positioning sensor is gonna say your 25% open when your flowing 28% air?

I don't see how thats going to work out.

Also Madwolf stated he actually experienced a loss in power and does not recommend them. Some people say they are good, but I've not seen any definitive dyno testing.

Re: Ported TB gain

My own experience:
Hooker cat back exhaust - not much difference
K&N Filtercharger - not much difference
52 mm ported stock TB - woke up the car.
Probable cause - finished opening up the flow of air/fuel. The exhaust and intake allowed more air, but the tb was a bottleneck. When the ported tb was installed, it allowed the other components to work to their potential.
I gained .1 to .2 in the quarter mile.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Yep, lost about 15 RWHP and 10 RWTQ from a ported TB on a cammed car. This was done on separate days, however, (both runs SAE corrected) so it cannot be taken as a rule. I will do another test on the same day when I do my heads and a larger cam.
