well i dont want to hassle but if u had to estimate the gains ,horsepower/tq and ET and trap speed what would u say they would be on a stock motor, no cam swap just bolt ons

probably only .1 or .2, and gain a couple of MPH......

why dont you do the cam swap first? much cheaper than doing heads......

He's right. Do the cam first. Its cheaper and you will gain much more from the cam. I had my heads ported and polished first...and didn't see much of a difference.

So what cam is everyone using? Hey FormulaLT1power, my in-laws live in Ankeny (sp?). How's the weather?! lol. We were up there this time last year.

Agreed. About 20-25 fwhp is about right on an LT1 (head swap, no other changes). Since you have a good amount of work to get the heads off and on, it's crazy not to a cam at the same time.

A guy in my car club just recently put a set of ported heads with 1.6 rockers on his otherwise mainly stock LT1. He had CAI and LTs with a Flowmaster cat-back. He put down 310 at the wheels with no tuning done. Since then he's had some adjustments made, but I don't know of the results.

His username is JWA95TA here.

what kinda experience does this guy have on porting LT1 heads?
i would not let just anyone port my heads, what if he messes them up? what kinda flow # does he get?

when i said .1 or .2 and a couple of mph, i was talking about a professional full port with larger valves.....
i would carefully think about it.....
