Not bad max flow numbers. What did they flow at other valve lift points?

It just seems like they are a reliable company to get heads from, Well I guess consistent is more what I was thinking. In any case, I really want feedback from people who have done this before. This is my first swing at it. So realistically, what cam would you recommend for decent street manners, gas, and good on power? My goal isn't necessarily dyno numbers rather mid 12 quarter passes and daily drivability, which from what I know needs about 400rwhp in my car to accomplish this. I know people say cc306, gm 847 etc. Any more specific suggestions would be appreciated.

That's a good point.
If I where you I would send them to AI for their opinion. It's too bad you already had them flowed and assembled (if I understand correctly). I am not a head expert, but I do know there is alot more to the story than just a flow #. A bunch of guys on the web looking at pictures are not going to be able to tell you what that head is good for. Piece of mind is worth the shipping cost, which isn't that much. Good luck with your project.

Sorry, I thought you said they put bigger valves in to get the #'s. I thought with bigger valves the seats need to be changed. That's why I assumed they where assembled. Again, sorry for getting it wrong.

they did put bigger vavles in, BUT for flow testing only. I have matching parts when I do get them assembled.

The stock cam will get you mid 12's with good heads. In fact, a friend of mine ran 11.9x with stock heads and cam - bolt-on's only.

Also, you can't just put a 2.02 valve in a seat cut for a 1.94 and get a flow increase.

On another board he had mentioned the name "Ellis" was stamped into the end of the head, not being what I would call a common name I thought getting ahold of the one LT1 fanatic I knew of by that name was worth a shot.
So no BS just I had some info you didn't .

engineermike, this is for a b-body not an f-body the b-body cam has not responded well to ported heads for the few who have tried. There are some 12 second bolton b-bodies which by definition have a stock cam but they are not going fast with power they are doing it by lightening and optimizing, like not just run the headers open but remove the catback for the weight savings .

The heads had valve work done to accommodate the bigger valves. When I go to get them they will not be assembled. I will get the heads in one box, and my valves back in another. When I'm set with a cam and springs I will put them all together. And yeah our B-bodies are about 4300lbs full tank with driver. So it’s a little harder to go fast. Thanks for the input though I do appreciate everyone helping out.

Flow them before spending any money.

I thought the same thing Mike... but what do I know

Thats what I did. I got them flowed, then decided to spend a little cash to see if they could get to the performance level I wanted. They're pretty close, so I'm going to keep them, get a cam spec'd and get things rolling as soon as my short block is finished.

I'd slap them on and see what'll happen. A friend of mine had some $500 special heads that he had on his car for years and they performed did just as well the other LTx top dog heads/cam combos at the time when it came to track times and mph. You just never know how it's going to work until you put the combo together and run it. Most any head porter will tell you they can "improve" the flow/performance regardless of who originally did the work.
