Ported heads
Ported heads
I'm planning on going with a CC306 (and all the related valvetrain parts), 1.8 roller rockers, and ported heads. How much should I expect to pay to have my stock heads ported o match the cam? Balpark ranges, anyone?
750.00+ just for the porting. 1500+ if they are fully assembled (with valves, springs, ect...) Why 1.8s? That will be a lot of lift with the 306. Especially on the exhaust side! There will probably be piston to valve clearance issues as well as valve train alignment issues. 1.6s should be plenty.
Depends on what you want... a little more, or as much as you can get. If you just want something decent, you can probably get away with $1k-1200 in them. If you're wanting to push things pretty far, you'll spend $1500-2k as mentioned on something ready to bolt on & setup for your specific app. Of course everyone says "get a $400 port job"... but by the time you put $400-500 in parts (assuming you use nice stuff), and another $300+ in machinework....
Paying a premium for quality machinework and parts is worth it. Pay me now, or pay me later type deal

You are going to have major spring issues with the CC306 and 1.8:1 rockers. Setup will be critical, you will need to be very careful to avoid rocker to spring retainer interference and will need to be sure the pushrod length is correct (it will need to be shorter). You will also need to check piston to valve clearance and probably should use a valve stem lash cap, HD pushrods, 7 degree valve locks, etc.
Do you really mean 1.8 rockers? Based on memory, the lobe lift is 0.376/0.400" so the valve lift will be .677/.720". If you need this much lift, get a solid roller. And the springs won't last long with that kind of lift.
