yeah, stock gaskets/heads have the alignment pins built into them.

Hmmm. I see what happened, then. I have holes, too, but my gaskets didn't have any pins to go into them. I used Felpro FPP-1284 from Summit, which they list tor the LT1. Maybe not the best choice...? You can see they have holes instead of pins, and I assume that means they are set up to have pins in the heads.

Not trying to hijack, but knowing about this will help the OP and me both.

Thats what I use and they have the plastic pins. You just have to put them on the gasket yourself, and you can even see them in the picture.
