Por Que No Whoosh?

I just got my cai (Lingenfelter Supertube) in the mail yesterday and installed it today. I like everything about it (customer service, prompt delivery, K&N filter the size of a small child) but, after putting it in, I was a little disappointed at the complete lack of "whoosh" sound of air being sucked in. My brother had a MAC cai on his mustang, and that thing was loud and sweet. I thought maybe it's because the LPE unit is plastic, where the MAC unit is metal, but I've heard of guys with LPE, Moroso, and K&N FIPKs talking about the sound. Also, there was not much SOTP increase. I wasnt expecting much, just more than I got, I guess.

On a related topic, when we installed my bros cai, he also descreened his MAF. Could that have something to do with it? Also, is descreening a worthwhile mod? My car is stock, except for a dynomax cat back. Any help is greatly appreciated

Any benefit from descreening doesn't last long. The PCM will readjust and any gains will be lost. Not worth it IMO.

Thanks for the info. I noticed you have a Moroso cai. Is it plastic-bodied? And of course, do you hear the whoosh?
