Popping noise
Popping noise
I need some help people. I have a 1997 Z28. I am hearing a popping noise when I back up my car and apply the brakes. I am also hearing this noise when the steering wheel is being turned, usually to the right, not so much when I am turning the wheel to the left. This is happening after the car is parked for a little while. after I am driving, no noises. The noise is coming from the right front area. I cannot determine exactly where, like shock area or brake area. I have had the car up on the rack but noticed no signes of abnormal wear to determine this noise.
Any help and feedback will be greatly appreciated to get me started in some direction to this annoying problem.
Thanks,
Aaron

Thanks for the Reply Bad95Z....I thought when i got notified that someone may have had a suggestion or a solution or direction for the problem I am experiencing with my car.
I dont think your suggestion helps me out.
Anyone else have any ideas what may be causing this popping noise from the front of the car.
Thanks in advance

Normally, popping from the front can indicate; worn ball joint, tie rod end, bad shock, or possible worn bushing....
But, from what you wrote, it could be a sticking caliper??? its it making the car pull to one side????

thanks for the reply n2ceptor.
i will double check the caliper idea. i was thinking that the pads were sticking to the rotor. it does not feel that it is pulling to one side.
is there anyhting visual that would indicate the worn ball joints or bushings in that area aswell.
thanks.

the best way to check for a bad ball joint is the jack up the car, set your jack stands, and what I did was remove the tire and then move the streering knuckle assy up/down and side to side to look for free play in the ball joints. My upper one on the right side was very noticeable for me... Had a shop change out all of them on both side, just to be on the safe side...
