Post Poll: For those with cammed LT1s

Since you really can't tell how many people who have actually spun bearing(s) after a cam swap I decided to make this poll so we can see if more people got away with being cammed or if they felt the burn. FYI I'm doing this to help decide if I want a cam in my car

I did heads and cam and spun 3 bearings less than 300 miles later. I have no idea what actually caused it, but needless to say it didn't like something I did.

Spun a rod bearing after ~150 miles due to the new PCM settings for the transmission shifting extremely hard, kicked out oil pump pickup, lost oil pressure, spun bearing.

hmm... you guys are both auto's and both had the same problem. Could that be a lot of people's problems?

New power on old parts. No oil pressure = instant death. I also turn my car to 6800

wow, thats a high rev limit. So what did you do? Just change the bearing with the engine in the car or did you pull it and do a rebuild?

Nah, the motor was toast. Tore up the crank beyond repair/polishing/undersize bearings

I've put 2000 on my car since the cam swap...I very hard 2000 too with alot of time at the track..I shift around 6800 as well. No problems whatsoever....

ive had my cam in for a good while, for about3-5 months and prob put around 1000 miles on it maybe more...but ive been hard on my car and no problems yet and my engine had around 95k miles on it when i put in cam.....210/224 cam!!

~1200miles since mine and its seen 6500+rpm a few times....runs like a champ

I've got about 25,000 miles after my rebuild with a hotcam/headwork. No problems at all. Runs good.

The shortblock was rebuilt by a shop, but I installed the cam, and everything else after the shortblock.

Heck, I've gotta' put a new opti and water pump on my dad's 150k WS6 so I figure this might be a good time to try a cam swap (LT4 hotcam or cc305) and a set of longtubes. The car will soon have 3200 vig as well (and I think I'd keep the shift points @6200 or below...w/pcmforless tuning). Whaddaya think? How bad of an idea is this?

I have well over 5000 miles since I put in the CC305. But only about 1000 since I did the heads. I've only been to the track once or twice since the cam. Everything seems fine so far. I am still waiting to get to the track to get some #'s before dyno tuning.

My cam has been for probably 2 years now and VERY VERY hard miles only have been applied and ZERO problems so far.

It might blow tomorrow, but I primarly only drive it on road courses and thus every mile it has on it since the cam and head swap have been very hard.

Not to mention two SLP days at Ennis.
