POLL ~ Pacesetter Long Tubes ...

Ok heres the deal, The other day LT1 tech was goin crazy with people having problems with the AIR ( Very few ) and EGR ( Alot MORE ) fitment issues ...

How did yours hook up if you got the emissions legal long tubes ...

Also, if there was a problem with your AIR or EGR fittings, please State the YEAR, TRANNY, and whether it was AIR or EGR.

Thanks All ... I tried this in the Lounge but not too many ppl seemed to say anything.

I'm really glad you are doing this poll. I'm actually looking at getting the pacesetter LT's but i'm not sure if i want to deal with the AIR and EGR because i too have heard that people have had problems with them. There is a Drag Race style which has no air or egr hookup if you don't need to worry bout emissions. Anyways, I hope a lot of people post on the poll. VOTE!!

For me the fittings were a huge wast of time. They all did not fit up. The EGR was right in front of the tranny dipstick, couldn't hook that up. The AIR fittings didn't line up with the tubes seemed as though the fittings sat lower than the manifolds did. If I had to do it over again I wouldn't go with the emmission fittings, was a royal PITA. And for some odd reason one of my primarie tubes was making full contact with the tranny bell housing. I just cut some of it off with a hack saw. I don't know what the deal was These Headers were supposed to fit better than all the rest. Must be my bad luck

May i ask why you guys are even bothering with the emission hook ups? No long tube is going to be emissions legal technically even with hookups, and without the hook ups, you can still easily pass the sniffer test. If you have a visual too, are you going to fail on the premise of relocated cats anyways, correct?

I dunno, just a thought, first thing i did when i got my pacesetters was cut off the emissions tubes and welded them shut. I just dont even see why it would be worth the hassel of even attempting to make them fit.

Shoebox has an interesting write up on the benfits of EGR. AIR, by most people's opinions, seems worthless. It's a shame Pacesetter can't get the little things right because the price is.

Re: POLL ~ Pacesetter Long Tubes ...

that is ridiculous, only 3 people have posted on the poll, it doesn't take long to do and it could help a lot of people deciede if they want the drag race version of the lt's or the regular with hookups. I wish more people would post just to see the numbers. I have read many posts about it so i know a lot of people have done the pacesetter install. People just take a sec and vote for all of us who are lookning to buy....PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

Re: POLL ~ Pacesetter Long Tubes ...

I would recomend the drag style. That was what i got and i cannot tell you how happy i was because of it. I literally put all my plugs in in under 10 minutes. I was pleasantly suprised how rediculiously easy it was.

I got all of them minus 2 from the top. Removing the AIR tubes makes it 10x easier to get the passenger side plugs.

Screw emmisions. If anything, get emmisions headers and keep EGR. AIR is worthless, EGR has a purpose. Block off the AIR to emmisions ones or plumb in EGR into the drag style if you want EGR.

Re: POLL ~ Pacesetter Long Tubes ...

I have the pacesetter long tubes.Only a few bad thongs i didnt realize the tranny dipstick was in the way of my air fiittings so i tryed to drop my crossmember and didnt help still cant get to the bolt so after about 1/2 hour of tryin to get it to hook up i desided to wait till i pull my tranny to fix that prob witch is in a few months.I took off the the tube from the back of my intake and blocked it off and now i m makin a block off plate for the header part.Is it ok to remove the EGR pipe and block it off at the intake and the header and if i do that is it ok to leave the air on the car?

I have the one without the hook ups and they work great. I just didn't see the point of emission hook ups if the car is not legal anyway because of the LT. BTW they sound awesome.
